Whether you’re new to Munich, lived here for years, or just visiting, finding the best spots to practice yoga isn’t easy. When I first moved to the city it took me a while to find yoga studios that I liked and got a good vibe from. But now I can safely say that I have a few tried and trusted spots that feel a little like home.
The following studios offer a calm and welcoming environment, friendly teachers, and a variety of different classes, from grounding yin to energetic vinyasa flows. While there are definitely other nice studios in Munich, these are the ones I’ve visited that I can recommend.
1. Yoga Bee

This cute and cozy studio offers classes in both German and English. It was the first yoga studio I went to in Munich, and it’s probably my favorite place to take classes, as the teachers are so friendly and teach from the heart. The small studio feels more like a community than some other larger spots, and classes typically aren’t jam-packed like sardines in a can.
Yoga Bee is located in the Schwanthalerhöhe neighborhood, close to Theresienweise.
2. Hairu

I stumbled upon this little studio last winter and immediately fell in love. From the vines trailing over the front door to the sweet interiors, it feels warm and welcoming. English classes are offered each week, and they also have special events and workshops, such as sound baths and punk rock yoga.
While Hairu is located in the bustling Glockenbach neighborhood, it’s hidden away down a quiet side street.
3. Shiva Shiva Yoga

This is a small but fine yoga studio centrally located next to the Hauptbahnhof, the main train station. It’s tucked away in a quiet courtyard off the main street, so it’s easy to walk right past it on your first visit. Keep an eye out for the yellow Shiva Shiva sign to find it.
Once inside, you’ll be greeted by friendly and knowledgable teachers who teach engaging classes. If you’re an experienced yogi, this a great place for more challenging, unique flows. They offer intermediate and advanced English classes every week, which often sell out. The one downside is that the small studio is often filled with students, so it can be difficult to do some poses without bumping into your neighbor.
4. Patrick Broome Yoga

Regarded as one of the pioneers of modern yoga in Germany, Dr. Patrick Broome is an important figure in the local yoga scene. He’s been teaching for over 20 years, has written multiple books, and is even the yoga teacher for the German national football team. And you’ll find not one, but three Patrick Broome studios in Munich.
The yoga at Patrick Broome studio feeds mind, body, and soul, and there are classes offered for all levels from skilled teachers. They also offer a popular yoga teacher training course. However, there are no English classes on offer and, as these studios are understandably quite popular, they’re often packed with people. I’m always trying to avoid hitting my neighbor here. And, while the atmosphere is calm and professional, I will say that the studios lack the warmth and small community feel of places like Yoga Bee.
5. Kale & Cake

Run by two friends and Munich locals, Kale & Cake is a popular studio offering German and English classes, yoga teacher trainings, workshops, and retreats. I haven’t been to many classes at Kale & Cake, but I have some friends who really like it, and one even completed her yoga teacher training here. In addition to yoga, there’s also barre and female movement classes, which are perfect for when you just want to shake off a long work day.
6. The Sanctuary

Located next to the technical university, The Sanctuary is particularly popular with students and younger yogis in the city. It offers a variety of yoga classes for different skill levels, from a basic Foundation class all the way up to the energetic Dynamic flows. They are also one of the only studios that offers yin almost every day.
While I haven’t been here for a while, I went through a phase last winter where I couldn’t get enough of their yin classes. Be prepared that the rooms are often super crowded, and the rooms heat up quickly during the more active classes.
7. Yoga Nebanan

While technically not a brick and mortar studio, Yoga Nebanan is a wonderful yoga community in Munich. They offer lessons all over the city in different neighborhoods, making it easy to find a class near you. The locations can also be quite unique, and you can practice yoga at unique spots like a CBD shop, a popular cafe, or on a rooftop.
The classes are relaxed and beginner-friendly, plus they’re relatively affordable. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to bring your own mat!
