About

What makes a place feel like home? Cozy blankets, a warm cup of tea, and favorite books are some of the first things to come to mind, along with the people and community around. Being close to favorite places, whether they’re for camping, hiking, or resting a while, helps.

In this blog, I explore the homiest places in Munich and beyond, including hiking trails filled with natural beauty, welcoming yoga and mediation spots, cafes that make you want to sit down and people watch, and new experiences that take you out of the comfort zone. I love the Camino de Santiago, yoga, meditation, and travel, and hope to share these experiences in case you’re thinking of going on an adventure.

If you’re inspired by any of these topics, please feel to get in touch on Instagram. You’ll find more of my travel writing on Lonely Planet and Culture Trip.

And if you’re interested in practicing yoga with me, you can find more information here.

About Me

Hi, I’m Mikayla, a writer and American living in Germany. Originally from Portland, Oregon, I grew up within reach of mountains, forests, and the rugged Oregon Coast, and have always loved nature and exploring new places. Curiosity about my family’s roots (and a university program) brought me to Munich in 2019, and now it’s my home. This is a place to share experiences and musings about making a home far away from home.
